Production and acting was great but it felt like something was missing. I might have to come back to it later and reevaluate.

Kathryn Hunter should've won every award for this

Finally watched it in black and white! I'm still rating it the same but this is one was more fun to watch.

It's not a tradition but usually the first time we hear "All I Want for Christmas Is You" by Mariah Carey outside of home during the holiday season means it's time to watch this again.

I was curious about this movie after reading the book its based on. While different from the book, the performances from the main cast were very well done.

So much to love but seriously, why did people stop end credit bloopers?

This was unexpected in so many ways. I'm also a sucker for cooking in film.

I liked this more than Death on the Nile (2022). I should've expected more jump scares from the title alone so was caught off guard a few times.

The score! Very uncomfortable movie.

It's hard to explain why I liked this so much but there was so much in this that felt familiar and not at the same time. I felt at home and alone.

I wanted more The Lobster (2015).

The overall tale of parenting, grief, and being an outsider was so well done for me that I could ignore some of the issues I had with this movie.

I dont remember who or what podcast recommended this to me but I'm glad this was brought to my attention. Parts 2 and 3 will stay with me for a bit.

I didn't dislike this. I also didn't like it. It was a pain to get through but I think that's on purpose. This is only my second Cronenberg film which is surprising given how many times I've watched The Fly (1986).

Parts 1 and 3 were very interesting and different from each other while still feeling that they were about people. I'm glad I saw Holy Motors (2012) before this. I would not have wanted to see any more of "Merde" if this was my introduction to him. Bong Joon Ho's was my favorite of the three.

Maybe X2 (XI, X part 2, X++?) will make this better? Too much setup for me though.

Now I really want to go to Waterloo

Just finished rewatching the series in preparation for Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One. No matter how many times I rewatch them, it's always fun. While the first half of the series holds a special place in my heart, the second half really figured out how to build this universe and make it different than other action/spy movies.

Spoiler warning: I wish I would've known this was "part 1" and there would be no resolution. Thats what I get for not watching trailers or reading movie news

Philip Seymour Hoffman was a treasure.

I dont think this one is as rewatchable as the rest so whenever I watch it I find myself rating it lower than last time. Its not bad but to me its the weakest of the series.

I was stressed for 83 minutes

Just when I think I get whats happening... Not as "fast" but plenty of family.

I don't even know anymore.

6 and 7 is what I thought 1-5 were about. Its going to be hard to follow this one but I'm in now.

I'm breaking my rule about how I rate movies. I don't think I'll rewatch this unless for very specific situations but I know I'll remember it for a long time.

I haven't watched this in 20+ years but I reference it often to my wife who hadn't seen it before this time. Happy to say its still fun and rewatchable with enough ridiculous 90s action to keep you entertained for 2+ hours.

There's something about playing a movie you like for other people that makes you see things for the first time again. I loved this movie. I checked my history on letterboxd and I'm surprised that its been this long from my last rewatch to now. I put this movie on for friends because they had never seen it before and I have such good memories of this movie. This rewatch made me see more flaws and had me thinking the movie is maybe not as good as I rated it. But then any scene with the supporting cast is fun and there's a Dracula musical with puppets. There's some very real moments of a break up that are interesting in a movie like this until they are undone 10 minutes later. It's flawed but I love the memories watching this movie brings back.

I think this is the shortest amount of time between watching and rewatching a movie in years. I haven't stopped thinking about it and I already want to watch it again.

I dont get the hate. It's a perfectly fine movie.

This feels different and new in a good way

I think I rated this movie lower the first time because of a bad movie theater experience. The movie looked better on my TV and Elizabeth Olsen is amazing.

I didn't know what to expect with this one. What a fun ride.

This broke my brain. I didn't know what was happening. Then I thought I did. Then I didn't again. Then there was music. And tears. And then I did. And then I didn't and that's ok.

I wasn't sure what to rate this. It's a great movie that made me feel hollow and I think that's the point.

Haven't watched this in years but a conversation about Tom Jones ended here. Just as fun to watch now as it was in 96
